Focus, People! You're A Winner!

I read a very helpful piece of advice today over at Eve Out of The Garden:  She offered up this guidance attributed to Hugh Nibley, "Let the Spirit be your guide from hour to hour, do what it tells you and do not concern yourself with other things. This is my advice to everyone else. There are vitally important issues which concern us all but to which I pay no attention unless so directed by the Spirit. "

Great guidance.  I tried to do that today, and it really helped me to keep my focus.  I started off the day thinking that I might get the kitchen clean, can some strawberry jam, and make granola.  The Spirit lead me elsewhere as I checked in hourly with that Still Small Voice to see what one task I needed to focus on at that particular time.  I ended up tackling tasks that really needed to be done to help my home run better...but that task, strangely enough, had nothing to do with cleaning the kitchen or making jam, and it was NOT on my to-do list at all.  Long story short, I ended up buying bunk beds for my kids, totally changing their sleeping arrangements and bringing our playroom back into submission.  There is more work waiting for me tomorrow as a result, but following the Spirit...It's a good thing.

Now to announce the WINNER of the Lunchbox Love notes from Say Please!

The winner is Dawn Mercedes from Everything Under The Sun.

Congratulations, Dawn!

I will be forwarding all of your comments/suggestions to the company!

  1. Love the quote! Thanks for sharing! Also, post pics of the bunk beds. I am looking for some right now for my girls (pre-mature for Eliza but Lydia needs a bed and I have been waiting to buy her one) so I would love to see what you bought.

  2. sa-weet! My kids and hubby will love it! xoxoxo

  3. who's the luckiest? dawn or the bunk bed kids? And which 2 get the bunk beds?

  4. Hey, thanks for sharing--I tried to focus more, and follow those promptings the last two days. I ended up doing algebra with my 14 yr old--buying bunk beds looks like it was more fun! They look great.

  5. Isn't it great that God cares what we do during out days. I couldn't get though my day without his help. I actually wrote a post about that on my blog today.

  6. It's easy to forget about the spirit being in the day-to-day things. You really are inspiring; thanks for sharing.
