Hopeful Journals

To help us have a good perspective on life during quarantine and during all the turmoil our son brings us, we started doing hopeful journals.

Right before family scripture study, we write down three things were each hopeful about that day or three things that bring us hope.

So far, it has really helped lighten our hearts and brought us joy!

Give it a try!

the Atonement Covers what We Can't Fix

It's funny that my blog's title and theme is 2 Nephi 25:26, a verse that says, "We talk of Christ...that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." And here I am so frustrated with the decisions of my son when the answer is and has ever been before me.

I can only stay the path that I chose long ago, and that path is to talk and teach of Christ in my home, so my children know where to turn for a remission of sins when they need and want that help.

I am grateful for this promise and guidance and I think it will increase the peace for me as I learn to trust Him more, even as I continue to do all that I can for my kids.

Also, I'm so grateful right now for priesthood blessings. I received one in January and my husband said I'd be able to realize my goals and find success. So far I have been able to do that and see success in working out consistently.

The other day I saw this quote from Pres. Nelson about making time for scripture study the priority.

"Time for scriptures study requires a schedule that will be honored. Otherwise, blessings that matter most will be at the mercy of things that matter least..."

I want to make sure my righteous goals have a space and time in this new quarantine world, so I will be working on this and taking his advice.

I realize my success in working out has been largely due to having my workouts decided for me. I don't have to come up with a new work out every day. It's just there on my phone. I am going to see how I can replicate this for myself in the area of scripture study, so that doing it can be more automatic and more consistent during this time when things are out of the regular routine!

What are you doing to improve yourself during quarantine and tweek things in your life?

Whatever it is I'm sure the Lord is blessing all of your efforts!

Homeschooling Mama at long last....

Whew! It's been a minute.  Actually it's almost been two months of rigorous quarantine for us!  What an adventure!

I have finally gotten to dip my toe into actually homeschooling my kids because of all of this and most days I really love it.

I feel so blessed by all that has happened. I'm still feeling the hopeful high of General Conference and the announcement of a Pittsburg Temple!!!!

However, there have been lows and hard times here at home as well. Through all of it I know God is in charge and he's going to help us all though it all!

I hope that YOU feel the hope and seek out the light in the darkness of these days.

My neighbors and I put out a light display every Sunday night and it brings us joy and peace.  I hope you have formed some small ways that you increase the peace and light for others around you too. In fact, I'm sure you have.

Xo!
