General Conference Keywords

After each General Conference, I immediately begin analyzing the talks, searching for unique ways I can teach the principles to my children.  I like to identify simple phrases that will help them to easily remember specific teachings, as well as who taught them.  As I was listening this time, I kept hearing really strong one or two-word imperative statements.  I noted them in my notes, and I compiled them in this little "haiku" of keywords to help me remember the teachings of General Conference.

Read through and see if any of them ring a bell for you...Each one has a link provided that will take you to the talk that I took the phrase from.

Ask “what lack I?
Doubt your doubts, not the barriers.

  1. Having eyes to see and ears to hear really stood out to me.

Also Elder Holland's reminder to mothers "You are doing better than you think you are."

Also the charge to "see others through a parent's eyes".

"Being centered in Jesus Christ.". (I'd love to have my kids learn to make pottery on a pottery wheel and then review that talk. Don't know if I will be able to make that happen but I think it would be really meaningful and a memorable way to teach this lesson.)

As well as many others you posted such as "What lack I yet?". "Ponderize"

  2. Oh, and definitely lots of teaching about the Sabbath and the sacrament...the Sabbath is a delight. (which I know was taught last conference as well and is a focus for the church...but there were some wonderful talks about how to really honor the Sabbath day and access the power of the Atonement and the sacrament.)
