Our Sacred Grove House

Seriously, guys, this is my back yard.

My dad, who will be coming out for a visit this weekend (with my mom) has dubbed this the Sacred Grove House.  And it was sure living up to its name this morning!

Yet, with all of this inspiring landscape around me, I'm still plugging away on my talk about Motherhood, which I will be giving in church this Sunday...Mother's Day...and my Dad's birthday...with my parents sitting in the audience.  I want to make them proud.  I want to honor them and say the right things.  But how do you describe something as amazing and eternally significant as Motherhood?  Something so beautiful is nearly beyond words, and yet, I will still try.

I gave it a stab in a guest post today over at A Well-Behaved Mormon Woman.

It's called "Mothering with Power, Strength, and Conviction," and has wisdom from some other moms with way more experience than me!  So go ahead and check it out and let me know how I did.

And now I've got to get back to work!

  1. I really love reading all your posts. I am so grateful to know that your house isn't always perfect. I love that you say "our very best is just exactly enough." I think we all need to be reminded of that.

  2. That is seriously beautiful. *must...suppress...envy*
My yard could look like that if I were two centimeters tall, but the "trees" would actually be dandelion globes.
I enjoyed your guest post. What a sensitive young man you have. Your right though, we may not be perfect, but when we try our best, it is enough.

    1. I hear ya! That's how our last yard was...we planted so many trees and as many bushes as we could and realized it would still take like 15 years before any of them MIGHT hold a tree house...then we found this one. It has really been a blessing to live here...surrounded by such beauty! And so many places to play hide and seek outside. We used to play hide and seek in our old back yard and it was so hilarious, because you could hardly find anything to hide behind! It's all good though! We realize that we are the benefactors of someone else's hard work and some day someone else will benefit from the many hours and labors of love we performed in our old place. That's just how it works right?

    1. ...at the risk of making people hate me...this is only a small side yard. Our kitchen overlooks it. :) It's not an enormous lot but what is there is lovely and peaceful...even with my kids scaring away the deer! :)

  5. lovely blog and thoughts-we all need to realize we are enough and not get hung up on being perfect especially as a mother...

    1. Thank you! Wow, what an intense week. Glad I could squeeze it in though and it did help me to prepare for my talk...which I am printing off right now...hopefully I'll be ready to give it on Sunday, as my parents will be arriving in town tomorrow, so this is it as far as prepping goes! Here goes nothing! :)
