Here's my address...so write me, baby.

I really appreciate the good teachers that I had when I was growing up.  One of them, my kindergarten teacher, and I recently started exchanging letters.

The funny thing is that, although she was a great teacher, I remember struggling to enjoy Kindergarten.  This was the awesome beginning of my How to Solve a Problem Like-Jocelyn days, which lasted through like 7th grade.

Anyway, my former Kindergarten teacher is not really online, so letters suit her just fine.  And I find being online can really make me feel disconnected from the real world, so getting a letter in the mail always makes me feel grounded.

I am hoping that she will, through our correspondence, reveal a little bit more wisdom and perspective for me, about who I was back then and hopefully that will also benefit my children.

I have just one more update for you guys...and then I've got to put my groceries away, pick up Autumn, go to Lowe's, and go see a friend.

Because of a *little* rivalry between Facebook and Google Plus, FB has started blocking my blog (and other blogger blogs who are so lucky).  That means that I cannot share my posts on FB anymore...until they resolve their differences (as explained here) or until God strikes Facebook with a bolt of lightning.

Don't worry, if you click on my blog and get a weird warning.  Everything is cool.  I'm sad that this means I cannot share my posts with all my FB friends, and it does hinder my desire to blog, because my efforts to remedy the problem really eat up my time...which I have very little of these days as it is!  I will just have to take care of the most important things in life...and let everything else fall into it's proper place.  I hope you guys do the same!  Have a great day!

  1. Am I the only one who sung the title of this post in their head? lol

  2. I fit makes you feel any better, I just check your blog. I don't wait to hear from FB if you've blogged or not. Thanks for writing, though I understand why you wouldn't have time!

  3. Yep, I sang it too. That song is everywhere lately!

    ;)

PS. I rarely connect my FB to my blog anyway, and people seem to get back and forth just fine on their own.

    1. The reason it concerns me is that there are a lot of personal friends of mine who are not of our faith who read casually via Facebook ...now they won't really read because they aren't the blog reading type ya know? And they are the reason that I started blogging in the first place...what can ya do

  4. I never check with FB about blogs, I only ask my reader what is new each day! :)

I love letter writing. When I sat down the other day and wrote out a letter that got rather lengthy I realized how out of practice I am. I used to take endless notes from class by hand, write letters by the score, and notes to pass to friends in class and my hand never cramped like it did the other day. I think it truly is a lost art. I love that you keep it alive.

  6. I think letters are a great way to stay grounded--similar to writing in our journals. So sorry that your blog is being blocked on Facebook. Seems pretty ridiculous if you ask me--it's almost as if they are strategically blocking big blogs from Blogger. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

  7. Checking in -- I love getting letters too :) I'm not sure I understand the FB blocking blogs thing.... I've still been able to post mine so far... but I don't have a lot of traffic on mine. Hope you can find a solution. I'm excited to follow you on Pinterest! :)

    1. Checking in? How sweet! If you read the link...it's about images sort of. One of the servers that Blogger uses was labeled as a spammy site by FB. So, if your blog's images are hosted by picasa web albums, blogger, or google plus (all sort of the same thing) they might be on that particular server...I think there are two that have been "black listed"...so FB just automatically blocks you. It really has nothing to do with your content, just your affiliation with google/blogger's one image server. And of course as a blogger, you can't really choose which server is used...you just have to switch to flicker or something. But alas, that doesn't change the fact that I have hundreds of photos hosted elsewhere. So, there isn't much I can do. I think they are trying to strong-arm people to stay with FB and abandon all ties with google plus, since they are rivals. This is a really lame way to do it. Enough about me...how are you? and yes, let's hook up on Pinterest!

  8. How sweet and interesting to exchange letters with your teacher. That's in my to do list when we visit Philippines this summer- visit teachers that really helped and inspired me when I was in elementary and high school. It's hard to send mail in my country-- it takes a long time to reach the recipient so I'm hoping my teachers will be more computer oriented-- email will do.
