The Sympathetic Soldier by Jocelyn Christensen

What's that?

You've never heard of the classic Easter story
"The Sympathetic Soldier" before????

That's probably, because I just sat down and wrote it this afternoon with my children.

Please sit back and enjoy:

The Sympathetic Soldier

The end.

I wrote this story on one of the new Bare Books that I ordered after seeing it on Sleepy Time Gal last week.  The box of unwritten books arrived about two hours ago, and I just couldn't wait to break them in.  The kids wrote books too.  One is full of scribbles, another has tanks in it, and the third is full of self-portraits.

I mentioned to my friend Sue today, that for my Easter book list to really be what I want it to be, I'll probably need to write a few stories myself.  I think there is a real shortage of compelling Easter stories out there.  So, if you feel so moved...I encourage you to get writing my friends!

You have the power to tell stories in a magical way, even mingled with your testimony, perspective, and personal life experiences, that will teach your children the lessons that are most precious to you...lessons that they will not soon forget.

(If you are just tuning in, here is the other post that went up today:
I told you, it's going to be a full month!!)

  7. I can't wait to get some of those bare books for my family.
I would have hesitated to write my own story before since I don't consider myself an artist and what is a book without beautiful pictures? However, you just managed to tell a wonderful story with simple line drawings that I think might be even more effective than brightly colored detailed drawings. Thanks for the inspiration.
